More Than Just a Podcast

Euroglaze’s Managing Director Martin Nettleton and charity fundraiser extraordinaire Nicky Park feature on the latest podcast recorded by Retina UK.

The two spoke to the charity, which funds research and supports those living with progressive inherited sight loss, about how they so successfully galvanised the Euroglaze team, customers and suppliers to raise almost £14000 in donations for Retina UK to mark the company’s 40th anniversary year.

During the podcast, Martin Nettleton explains the impact that Retinitis Pigmentosa has had on him, the positive attitude which ensures that he isn’t defined by it, and the tech advances that enable his life to remain as normal as possible.

Alongside him, Nicky, Euroglaze’s Sales and Customer Service Advisor talks about the background to the fundraising campaign and the huge benefits it brought to the Barnsley-based trade fabricator, as well as to Retina UK.

From a virtual John O’Groats to Lands’ End cycle ride, which saw a friendly rivalry take over the business as two teams competed to see who could pedal the furthest, to a charity fun day where the senior team dressed up as the Village People and subjected themselves to being sponged in stocks, Nicky outlines during the podcast how the fundraising effort brought the Euroglaze staff together as never before.

Martin also takes the opportunity to give Nicky all the credit she deserved for leading the campaign – calling her an ‘unbelievably valuable asset to the business, whose positivity, effort and determination were outstanding’.

For Retina UK, it is hoped that the podcast will be a useful tool in encouraging other businesses to adopt similar fundraising campaigns and reap the rewards in the same way.
