Thermal Performance – With No Compromise On Aesthetics

The Springmount Mill development of four build-to-rent apartment blocks in Edgeley, Stockport was developer Carpenter Build’s first experience of polymer frames, but thanks to Euroglaze and Rehau, it won’t be the last.

Carpenter Build had two clear priorities for the windows and doors in the 200+ apartments – aesthetic appeal and thermal performance. With our slimline Slinova sliding patio doors and flush sash Rehau Rio windows fitted throughout, they have easily achieved both.

At Springmount Mill, Carpenter Build specifically wanted to go beyond the minimum C rating which will be required for Energy Performance Certificates in new residential rental properties from 2030 and targeted a B rating to keep bills as low as possible for their tenants.

This prompted them to look beyond the aluminium frames they would normally fit in their high-end apartments, and they approached Rehau and Euroglaze to explore attractive and affordable options in PVC-U, which would meet their thermal performance requirements without any compromise on aesthetics. Durability and low maintenance were also important, because Carpenter Build’s sister company is responsible for the ongoing upkeep and management of the development.

Together, Rehau and Euroglaze recommended our highly efficient Slinova sliding patio doors, with slim sight lines and 80m frame depth and our Rio flush sash windows, which have the added benefits of PAS24 security accreditation and enhanced acoustics. All in a virtually maintenance free, colour fast contemporary foiled black finish inside and out, which is guaranteed not to scratch or fade.

Once Carpenter Build saw the quality of the frames fabricated by Euroglaze and learnt a bit more about our overriding commitment to outstanding customer service, they were more than happy to go ahead. Now that the project is finished, they are hugely impressed with the finished result – so much so that they are already planning to fit our windows and doors in their next similar project later this year.
